Detailed frequency data will appear here after fetching.
This page monitors the UK electricity grid frequency, a critical indicator of grid stability and balance between generation and demand.
The frequency gauge displays the current grid frequency, which is nominally maintained at 50Hz. When demand exceeds generation, frequency falls below 50Hz, and when generation exceeds demand, frequency rises above 50Hz.
The "Frequency Trend" chart tracks frequency changes over time, highlighting deviations from the normal operating range. The color-coded system indicates when frequency is within normal limits (49.8-50.2Hz), warning levels (49.5-49.8Hz or 50.2-50.5Hz), or critical levels (below 49.5Hz or above 50.5Hz).
Grid frequency is constantly monitored and balanced by National Grid ESO through various balancing services. Significant deviations can trigger automatic responses including demand disconnection or generation shutdown to protect the system.
